  • 45 fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread and Butter: Heat a pan over low to medium heat. Take one slice of bread and spread butter on one side thoroughly. Flip the bread so that the buttered side is down in the pan.
  2. Add the Fillings: On the top, unbuttered side of this bread slice, sprinkle the grated mozzarella (or chosen cheese blend) evenly. Layer with the slices of prosciutto, followed by the fresh sliced mozzarella. Place the fresh basil leaves on top, then spread the fresh basil pesto over everything. Season lightly with salt and fresh ground pepper to enhance the flavors.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Take the second slice of bread and butter one side. Place this slice on top of the fillings with the buttered side facing up to ensure a crispy golden crust on both sides after cooking.
  4. Cook the Sandwich: Place the assembled sandwich in the preheated pan. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula if desired, until the bread is super crunchy and golden brown and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
