Main Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 14 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½ inch pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz penne pasta (or your choice of short pasta)
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
- Brown the Kielbasa: Heat olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for about 4–5 minutes until browned and slightly crispy on the edges.
- Sauté Garlic and Onion: Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the pot. Sauté for 2 minutes or until fragrant and onions become translucent.
- Add Liquids and Bring to Boil: Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook Pasta: Add uncooked penne pasta to the pot. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
- Finish with Cheese and Seasoning: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce becomes creamy. Add paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste, mixing well.
- Rest and Garnish: Let the dish rest uncovered for 2 minutes to thicken the sauce. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes before serving hot.
Notes
- Use penne or any short pasta like rigatoni or rotini for best results.
- Adjust the amount of chicken broth and cream if you prefer a thicker or thinner sauce.
- Add red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently with a splash of cream or broth.
- Fresh parsley adds a nice herbal brightness and color contrast.
