Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 14 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into ½ inch pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz penne pasta (or your choice of short pasta)
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Brown the Kielbasa: Heat olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for about 4–5 minutes until browned and slightly crispy on the edges.
  2. Sauté Garlic and Onion: Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the pot. Sauté for 2 minutes or until fragrant and onions become translucent.
  3. Add Liquids and Bring to Boil: Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook Pasta: Add uncooked penne pasta to the pot. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  5. Finish with Cheese and Seasoning: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce becomes creamy. Add paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste, mixing well.
  6. Rest and Garnish: Let the dish rest uncovered for 2 minutes to thicken the sauce. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and optional red pepper flakes before serving hot.

Notes

  • Use penne or any short pasta like rigatoni or rotini for best results.
  • Adjust the amount of chicken broth and cream if you prefer a thicker or thinner sauce.
  • Add red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently with a splash of cream or broth.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice herbal brightness and color contrast.
