A hearty and flavorful one-pan meal featuring ground meat, tender potatoes, and melted cheddar cheese all cooked together in a skillet for an easy, comforting dinner option.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb Ground Beef (or ground turkey, chicken, or pork)
  • 3 medium Potatoes (peeled and diced)
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 1 bell pepper (chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)

Seasonings

  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Liquids and Cheese

  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (shredded, or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil (for cooking)

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh Parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Potatoes: Add the peeled and diced potatoes to a heated skillet with olive oil and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8-10 minutes until they begin to soften and develop a light brown color.
  2. Remove Potatoes: Once browned and slightly tender, remove the potatoes from the skillet and set them aside to keep warm.
  3. Cook the Ground Meat: In the same skillet, add the ground beef and cook over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  4. Add Vegetables and Seasonings: Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Then add paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
  5. Combine and Simmer: Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet. Pour in the beef broth and stir everything together. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the liquid has reduced slightly.
  6. Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the skillet contents. Cover and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted and is bubbly and golden.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle fresh parsley over the skillet before serving for a pop of color and freshness.

Notes

  • Ground turkey or chicken can be used as a leaner alternative to ground beef.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of chili flakes or smoked paprika.
  • Make sure to keep an eye on the potatoes while cooking so they don’t burn.
  • If you prefer softer potatoes, parboil them before adding to the skillet.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
