Optional toppings like kimchi, red pepper flakes, and sriracha add an authentic Korean kick to elevate the dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Rice

  • 1 lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups jasmine rice, cooked

Vegetables

  • 2 cups mixed stir-fry vegetables (such as bell peppers, onions, carrots, and zucchini)

Garnishes and Optional Toppings

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • Kimchi, for serving (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
  • Sriracha sauce, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Jasmine Rice: Prepare 2 cups of jasmine rice according to package instructions, ensuring it is fluffy and tender. Set aside and keep warm.
  2. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat with a small amount of oil. Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry until they are cooked through but still crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Cook the Steak: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary and quickly sear the thinly sliced flank or sirloin steak over medium-high heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until it’s browned and at desired doneness. Remove from heat and slice thinly if not already done.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Spoon a generous scoop of jasmine rice into each serving bowl. Top the rice with the stir-fried vegetables and the sliced steak evenly distributed.
  5. Add Garnishes: Sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds over each bowl for added flavor and texture.
  6. Serve with Optional Toppings: Serve the bowls with kimchi on the side, and offer red pepper flakes and sriracha for those who want an extra spicy kick.

Notes

  • You can customize the vegetables based on your preference or seasonality.
  • For vegetarian or vegan versions, substitute the steak with marinated tofu or tempeh.
  • Use lean cuts of steak to reduce fat content.
  • Leftover steak bowls can be refrigerated and reheated within 2 days for best quality.
  • Adding kimchi not only adds flavor but also probiotics for gut health.
