Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise

Cheeses

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 cup cooked ground sausage (mild or spicy, crumbled)
  • 1 4 oz can diced green chiles, drained

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

Garnish and Serving

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • Crackers, tortilla chips, or bread slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a medium baking dish or cast-iron skillet to prevent sticking during baking.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until it is thoroughly browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease to keep the dip from becoming greasy.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir these together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Add Cheese & Flavor: Incorporate the shredded sharp cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, cooked sausage, diced green chiles, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper if using, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  5. Bake: Spread the combined mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling and the top has turned a golden brown.
  6. Serve Hot: Once baked, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve the dip warm alongside crackers, tortilla chips, or slices of bread for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the cayenne pepper or add diced jalapeños.
  • Make sure to drain the cooked sausage well to avoid a greasy dip.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet or a ceramic baking dish to bake the dip evenly.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
