Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry Fondue

  • 23 oz container of frozen strawberries with sugar
  • 2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Homemade Whipped Cream (Optional)

  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp almond extract

Instructions

  1. Puree the Strawberries: Place the frozen strawberries with sugar in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth and fully pureed. Transfer this puree to a medium saucepan for cooking.
  2. Mix Cornstarch Slurry: In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water, whisking until smooth. Stir this slurry into the strawberry puree in the saucepan.
  3. Cook the Fondue: Bring the strawberry mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring for 1-2 minutes while boiling until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add Cherry Juice and Remove from Heat: Stir in 2 tablespoons of maraschino cherry juice for added flavor, then remove the saucepan from heat.
  5. Cool the Fondue: Let the fondue cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a serving bowl. This fondue can be enjoyed warm or slightly cooled.
  6. Prepare the Whipped Cream (Optional): In a large bowl, use an electric handheld mixer to beat 1 cup whipping cream, ⅓ cup powdered sugar, and ¼ teaspoon almond extract until stiff peaks form.
  7. Serve: Serve the strawberry fondue with your choice of dippers such as angel food cake chunks, brownies, bananas, or marshmallows. Add a dollop of the almond whipped cream to each serving or dip treats into the whipped cream after dipping into the fondue for an incredible flavor combination.
