Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls

For the Creamy Topping:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 tbsp jarred salsa

For the Taco Meat:

  • 1 1/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning

For the Toppings:

  • 3 to 4 diced roma tomatoes
  • 4 to 5 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese
  • 1/2 oz bag shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Bake the Crescent Roll Base: Preheat the oven to 350°F as per crescent roll package instructions. Unroll the crescent rolls and spread them out across a cookie sheet, pinching seams to seal and cover the surface evenly. Bake until golden brown, then allow to cool completely on the counter before proceeding. You may also cover with a paper towel and leave overnight at room temperature.
  2. Prepare the Taco Meat: While the crust cools, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat once cooked. Add the taco seasoning and water as directed on the seasoning packet, stir well, and simmer until the meat is fully coated and sauce has thickened. Set aside and cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Toppings and Creamy Sauce: Dice the roma tomatoes into bite-sized pieces. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and jarred salsa, stirring until smooth and evenly blended to create the creamy pizza sauce.
  4. Assemble the Crescent Taco Pizza: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crescent roll crust. Distribute the cooked taco meat over this layer, then top with diced tomatoes. Sprinkle shredded cheddar jack cheese over the top, finishing with shredded lettuce, piled a bit heavier in the center for extra flavor.
  5. Serve: Cut the assembled taco pizza into equal squares and serve immediately. Enjoy fresh for best flavor; leftovers can be refrigerated for 1-2 days.

Notes

  • Ensure the crescent roll base is completely cooled before spreading the creamy topping to avoid melting it.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner taco meat option.
  • Adding jalapeños or sliced black olives as extra toppings can enhance the flavor.
  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 2 days and can be eaten cold or briefly reheated.
  • For a crispier crust, bake the crescent roll base a few minutes longer before assembling.
