Scale

Cake Ingredients

  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/3 cup Natural Peanut Butter (no added sugar, no added oil)
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Carrots
  • 3/4 teaspoon Baking Powder

Frosting Ingredients

  • 7 ounces Potatoes (peeled, boiled, and ultra soft)
  • 3.5 ounces Cauliflower Florets (steamed or boiled and drained)
  • 1/4 cup Plain Yogurt (unsweetened)
  • 13 tablespoons Milk (to thin frosting as needed)

Decoration

  • 12 teaspoons Dog Dry Food
  • 1 tablespoon Shredded Carrots for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a small round springform pan with olive oil to prevent the cake from sticking and set aside.
  2. Make the Cake Batter: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, natural peanut butter, and shredded carrots until smooth. Stir in the baking powder thoroughly for leavening.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake on the center rack for 15 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, signaling doneness.
  4. Cook Vegetables for Frosting: While baking, bring water to a boil and add peeled potatoes cut into large cubes along with cauliflower florets. Boil for about 12 minutes until both are fork tender.
  5. Drain and Cool Vegetables: Drain the cooked vegetables thoroughly and allow them to cool completely before making the frosting to avoid curdling the yogurt.
  6. Prepare the Frosting: In a food processor, blend the cooled potatoes and cauliflower with plain yogurt. Gradually add 1 to 3 tablespoons of milk to achieve a spreadable, puree-like consistency suitable for frosting.
  7. Slice the Cake: Once the cake has cooled, carefully slice it in half horizontally with a sharp knife to create two even layers.
  8. Assemble the Cake: Spread half of the veggie frosting evenly over the bottom cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top.
  9. Top and Decorate: Spread the remaining frosting on the top layer, then decorate with thinly shredded carrots and sprinkle dog dry food or favorite dog treats for an appealing finish.

Notes

  • Ensure peanut butter contains no added sugar or salt for your dog’s safety.
  • Use unsweetened plain yogurt to avoid any harmful additives.
  • The frosting is a puree, not pipeable, so spread gently with a spatula.
  • Always introduce new treats gradually to your dog and monitor for any allergies.
  • This cake is intended as a treat and should be given in moderation as part of a balanced dog diet.
  • Consult your veterinarian before feeding homemade treats especially if your dog has health issues.
